Gunsmoke was based in Dodge City, KS although it was shot in California because Hollywood is a bunch of liars.
 
Wyatt Earp did, however, make this town famous and it is still a tourist attraction with gunfights and saloons.  So if you're ever in South-Central Kansas on purpose, stop in and check it out.
